Oral Cancer Screening

Unlike the majority of other cancers, oral cancer 5-year survival rates have not improved over the past 20 years. That is because many cases are found too late. Most cancerous lesions can now be detected at a pre-cancerous stage and treated easily. Your dentist and hygienist at Davis County Dental perform a routine oral cancer screening at each exam. In addition, your hygienist will use advanced fluorescence and transillumination technology annually, which have been proven successful in identifying soft and hard tissue abnormalities in the earliest stages.

Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)

At Davis County Dental we strive to make your visit and any recommended treatment as comfortable as possible. One way to accomplish this is with nitrous oxide or laughing gas. This safe and effective method of anxiety reduction makes dental treatment a tolerable if not pleasurable experience for most patients. This includes very young children as well. Combined with wireless headphones blocking out unpleasant sounds and watching a comedy on a 32-inch flat screen TV, some patients don’t want to leave!

Crowns and Bridges

Sometimes, a filling just isn’t enough. If a filling becomes too big, a tooth fractures or is discolored, a crown or onlay may be recommended. These “caps” or “hats” cover the tooth and protect it from fracture and damage while improving the shape and contour. At Davis County Dental crowns are usually fabricated in one visit and made in beautiful and strong tooth colored porcelain. Bridges are a beautiful way to replace one or more missing teeth.

Dentures and Partials

While there is nothing as good as your natural teeth, dentures and partials can be a beautiful and functional way to replace missing teeth. It takes several visits to make the best dentures and partials possible, and that is exactly what Davis County Dental provides. Call today about filling in your smile with functional and esthetic replacement teeth through dentures or partials!

ClearCorrect and Traditional Braces

An orthodontic screening is part of every exam at Davis County Dental. You will be informed if you or your child could benefit from braces or clear aligner treatment. The great news is you no longer have to drive for orthodontic care! We do it right here in our office with outstanding results. Misaligned teeth or an incorrect bite may affect more than just the appearance of your smile. The following conditions may potentially be corrected or risk reduced through orthodontics:

  • Speech impediments
  • Difficulty chewing and eating
  • Sleep apnea caused by mouth breathing and snoring
  • Grinding or clenching of the teeth
  • Gum disease and tooth decay

Straight teeth can now be achieved without metal and wires. ClearCorrect uses clear aligners to move teeth into a better position. This means that many adults that have wanted to improve the appearance of their smiles now have a “clear” choice. For additional information visit >

Tooth Colored Fillings

At Davis County Dental, patients have multiple options for restoring their teeth if a cavity is found, including tooth colored fillings. These restorations can be matched to your natural tooth color and are strong as well as attractive.

Digital X-rays

Digital x-rays are safer, faster, and allow for better patient education than traditional films. Davis County Dental has incorporated the Dexis digital radiographic sensor for your safety and comfort. Dexis has the best image quality and most comfortable sensor of all the digital systems currently available.

Oral Surgery

Sometimes pulling a tooth is the best choice. Routine and surgical extractions of a wide variety of teeth are performed at Davis County Dental. Extractions are always completed while a patient is numb, it can still be a stressful appointment. Because of this, we will always offer gas and oral anti-anxiety medication to make your visit as comfortable as possible.

Advancements in technology over the past 20 years have made dental implants a great tooth replacement option. This multi step process leaves a crown that looks, feels, and functions just like a natural tooth. The simple and safe surgery for placement of an implant is coordinated with a specialist and then restored at Davis County Dental. Lower dentures are notorious for being loose and uncomfortable. Dental implants can also be used to anchor dentures to the arch to make them more stable and comfortable.

Root Canal Treatment

Many people become uncomfortable when they hear the words “root canal,” but it is actually a great service Davis County Dental can provide. It allows you to keep a tooth that might otherwise need to be extracted. There are many reasons a root canal may be recommended for a tooth, but the main culprits are deep cavities. If this occurs, the only options are extraction or root canal therapy. Davis County Dental will help you to navigate what treatment option is best for your tooth.

Gum and Dental Bone Treatment (Periodontics)

New research has shown the connection of gum and dental bone disease to other health concerns, such as: diabetes, heart disease, Alzheimer’s, pre-term-low-birth-weight babies, and miscarriage. Periodontal disease is a chronic condition that can be managed, but never cured. We use soft tissue laser therapy in our office to give our patients the best opportunity to fight this disease. Davis County Dental is happy to announce that periodontal specialist Dr. Truman Johnson DDS MS will provide advanced periodontal treatment in Bloomfield, Iowa.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentists recommends that the first dental examination be at the time of the eruption of the first tooth or 12 months of age. Seeing kids early is the key to healthy teeth for life. Davis County Dental has experience working with children of all ages and for all levels of dental need. Schedule the whole family together so that we can help your child have a healthy, beautiful smile for a lifetime!

Teeth Whitening

Many people are interested in a bright smile, so Davis County Dental offers both in office and at home whitening options. Ask our team about teeth whitening options for you at your next visit.
